No Choices

This isn't something I would usually post as it can lead to unwelcomed attention but I feel like I'm at the end of my tether! On the left is a pull up which we have had prescribed for a few years now. They are slimline and can be changed independently meaning the wearer has those all important self help skills we're always aiming for and a little thing called DIGNITY.

On the right is our replacement that the NHS have been threatening for a while and have now finally delivered...literally, 3 boxes full.

These "slips" as they are called are enormous and bulky and most importantly can't be changed independently. They need to be changed lying down and by another person which means all those life skills have just fallen by the wayside, and all that independence (of which many disabled people with high care needs have very little) has fallen away.

I've been told that dignity is not important to the incontinence team which to be honest, made me cry. It is literally ALL we want for our family members!

I have spoken to my MP and urge others in the same situation to follow suit. The thought that our children are basically being dis-abled over 30p...oh did I not mention that on the customer website that the pullups cost 30p more? Strange that!

A letter from the past

I wrote this letter in 2015 after months living above the worst neighbours I've experienced (and we've had a lot.) I still can't believe...
